HySSIL,lightweight, high strength, wall panel systems

HySSIL is a technology company that develops and commercialises innovative building materials and products. While HySSIL is focussing primarily on lightweight, high strength, wall panel systems, we are also developing technologies in other areas such as a new lightweight roof tile.

The name HySSIL is an acronym for ‘high strength, structural, insulative, lightweight’ building materials.

HySSIL is the owner of intellectual property for a novel building material developed originally by Australia’s premier research and development organisation, the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO). Patent applications have been lodged internationally and patents have been granted in Australia, New Zealand and China.

This current cementitious product range has the following key advantages:

	•	Approximately 40% to 50% lighter than a conventional concrete panel of similar strength;
	•	Thermal properties that are three to five times more insulative than conventional concrete; and
	•	Can be used in walling systems to produce lower embodied energy and greenhouse gas emission solutions.
The current HySSIL™ product range is typically produced as a precast panel, which can be used in the following applications:
	•	Structural and non-structural building walling systems;
	•	Cladding systems;
	•	Fences;
	•	Acoustic panels; and
	•	Party walls.

In 2007, HySSIL and CSIRO jointly received the Award for Excellence in the Technology Category from the Concrete Institute of Australia for the development of this technology.

A new range of building products based on a novel form of foamed geopolymer is currently being developed by the CSIRO on behalf of the Company. The geopolymer-based products will add to HySSIL’s range of technologically superior building materials.

This geopolymer range of products currently under development delivers lightweight product with significant greenhouse benefits (in contrast to cement-based concrete). The green credentials of this product will position this product range very favourably compared with the high-level greenhouse gas emissions profiles of many current building materials.

HySSIL is also developing a new lightweight roof tile product with a major US roof tile company which are being trialled for commercial production in early 2010. HySSIL hopes to offer a breakthrough in an industry that has not had a major technological change for decades.

HySSIL is seeking suitable licensees and partners in Australia and around the world to enter into licensing arrangements to manufacture HySSIL products.
